Why seafood is so good for our bodies

The consumption of seafood is becoming more popular. Fish and seafood are increasingly seen as a good alternative to meat. However, this is not the only reason why fish and shrimp are so popular. The growing demand is also driven by the desire for a balanced diet. In this article, we explain why seafood deserves a place in every balanced meal plan.

You are what you eat!

Hippocrates, the most famous physician of antiquity, already recognised the importance of nutrition for good health. A balanced diet has a greater impact on our bodies and overall well-being than we might initially think. Adopting a mindful lifestyle means paying attention to what we eat and making informed dietary choices.

Foods considered healthy include minimally processed ingredients, plant-based foods and moderate amounts of meat. Many people are familiar with the Mediterranean diet as an excellent example of balanced nutrition. However, it is not just the Mediterranean lifestyle that contributes to good health. Research suggests that dietary habits, lifestyle and other factors all play a role in long-term health and life expectancy among coastal populations.

Shrimp – small but packed with valuable protein

Anyone who wants to do something good for their body can benefit from including fish or seafood in their diet regularly. Fortunately, the days when delicious crustaceans such as shrimp were served only at wealthy families’ tables are long gone! Today, frozen shrimp are readily available in almost every supermarket.

They are also becoming a more common feature on the menus of health-conscious people. Seafood provides vitamin A, B, C, D, E and K as well as folic acid. Furthermore, consuming them allows for the intake of valuable trace elements and minerals such as iron, iodine, calcium, and magnesium. At the same time, shrimp are rich in protein and serve as an excellent source of protein for our metabolism. In addition to all these benefits, shrimp also have a low fat content.
