Our Black Tiger Prawns come from certified farms in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam – a region where shrimp farming and mangroves are closely interconnected.
At the farms from which Yuu’n Mee Black Tiger Prawns originate, mangroves are an important part of the farming model. The certified farms are subject to a government protection program for mangrove forests. At least 60% of the farm areas must be covered with mangroves.
Among the mangrove roots, the prawns find their natural food, including plankton and mangrove leaves. No additional feed is used in this type of farming. The prawns are also raised without the use of antibiotics.
Depending on the product, the farms are certified according to the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation or according to the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) standard. You can find out which certification applies to each Yuu’n Mee mangrove forest farm product in our product overview.
To offer you a truly special taste experience, we also refrain from using additives during processing. Yuu’n Mee Black Tiger Prawns impress with their clean, fresh and characteristically mild, nutty flavor, as well as their pleasantly firm bite.
For this Yuu’n Mee flagship project, our prawns from the mangrove forest farm were awarded the Internorga Future Prize 2020/21. Our Yuu’n Mee Organic Black Tiger Prawns from organically certified farming were also honored with the Anuga Taste Award 2023 and the Nordic Natural & Organic Innovation Award 2024 in the category “Best New Organic Food Product”. A great honour!
