The first organic shrimp in Austria:

Certified Quality by the „Austria Bio Garantie GmbH“

Because Yuu`n Mee continuously strives to further develop innovative and sustainable methods for the seafood sector, we have developed Black Tiger organic shrimp - and in September 2010, by virtue of this achievement, we were awarded the certification according to the guidelines set forth by the new "EU Organic Production Directive".

"The EU-Bio-Verordnung VO (EC) 834/2007 - which sets forth rules for organic aquaculture - was only completed a short time ago. In Europe, only those organic aquaculture products which have been inspected and certified according to the European Organic Production Directive may be commercially distributed. Inspection and certification in Thailand is based on the same rules effective in Austria. Only qualified organic inspection agencies approved by the EU may perform such inspections. The chain of inspection begins at the organic shrimp farm - and continues with processing and transport, up to the import process. Prior to import, the inspection reports issued by the accredited Thai inspection agency were thoroughly examined by the "Austria Bio-Garantie GmbH” in co-operation with the Vienna-based food oversight agencies MA63 and MA59. The organic aquaculture system in Thailand was not merely compliant - it was clearly convincing. The criteria "sustainability" and "organic specifications" were implemented in an exemplary manner. As a result of the inspection, Yuu`n Mee ultimately received the import authorisation for organic shrimp. The entire commercial trade and distribution of Black Tiger shrimp is certified by the “Austria Bio-Garantie GmbH”. This ensures that 'organic' is not a mere label, but also continuously reflected in the content," according to Dr. Christian Eis from Austria Bio Garantie.
